- 3 cups Cauliflower (Gobi)
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Chipotle chili powder (optional)
- 3 tbsp Rice flour or Corn flour
- 1/4 cup All purpose flour or Maida
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp Minced Garlic or garlic powder
- 1/2 cup water
For making sauce:
- 1/2 cup Onion(chopped)
- 1 to 2 cloves of minced Garlic
- 4 Green chili(chopped)
- 1/2 tsp white Sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp Rice vinegar or lemon juice
- 5 tbsp Lite Soy sauce
- 3 tbsp Green chilli sauce or Green hot sauce
- 1/4 cup Tomato ketchup
- 2 tbsp Sriracha sauce (optional)
- Vegetable oil or Sesame oil
Step by step photo recipe to make Vegan Gobi Manchuria:
Gobi Manchurian preparation:
- In a bowl add washed cauliflower florets, salt, red chili powder, Chipotle chili powder, Turmeric powder, minced garlic or garlic powder, and mix well.
- Next add All purpose flour, Rice flour, add 1/4 cup of water, and mix well. Add additional water if the flour does not fully mix with cauliflower.
- The flour mixture should coat the cauliflower florets well as shown in the picture below.
- Heat oil in a frying pan on medium to high flame and add the spiced cauliflower/gobi. Fry till the gobi has turned golden brown.
- In another pan add 2 tbsp oil, garlic, onion, chili, sesame seeds, and saute till onion turns golden.
- Next add all the sauces and saute on medium to high flame for one minute. Add the fried gobi and mix gently till the sauces have coated gobi well.
- Coriander leaves can be added as garnish. Serve as appetizer or enjoy it with Rice or Roti.
