Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp Flax seed powder
  • 3 medium Bananas (Fully Ripe)
  • 3/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour (Maida)
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp Nutmeg Powder (Jāyaphaḷa)
  • 2 tsp Poppy seeds (Khas Khas)
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Step by step photo recipe to make Vegan Banana Bread:



  • Preheat conventional oven to 350F or 177C. 
  • In a bowl mix 2 tbsp of Flax seed powder with 6 tbsp of water and let it rest for 5 mins till the mixture slightly thickens.
  • Mash bananas, add brown sugar, and gently mix.

  • Add flax seed paste and oil to it. Don't over mix.


  • Add rest of the dry ingredients like all purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the banana mixture, and gently mix.


  • Take a bread loaf pan and grease it with butter.

  • Transfer the mixture into the loaf pan and top it with poppy seeds or any nuts of your choice. Once the banana bread has finished baking, insert a toothpick into the center of the loaf. If it comes out clean then the bread is done or else place it back in the oven for a few more minutes.
